September is Heritage Month - a time we usually associate with public holidays, cultural dress, and traditional food. But heritage isn't only the big, visible things. Record the storytellers. Next family gathering, pull out your phone and record a grandparent, parent, or older relative telling a story you've heard a dozen times. Ask questions you've never asked. You'll be amazed what comes up.

Digitise the old photos. That shoebox or album isn't getting any younger. A quick scanning session - even just photos of the photos - means those memories outlive the paper they're printed on.

Write down the recipes. Before they only exist in someone's head, get them onto paper (or into your Notes app). Future generations will thank you.

Back it all up properly. Once you've got voice notes, videos, and scanned photos, they need a proper home - not just sitting on a phone that could be lost, stolen, or dropped in a pool.
