But to run smoothly, they need solid, stable internet. Two front-runners? 5G and fibre. Let’s break down how they compare - and why fibre comes out on top when it comes to powering your connected home. ###### **1. Fibre Delivers Consistent Speeds** 5G can be fast, but its performance depends on a strong, uninterrupted wireless signal. That means it can slow down or become unstable depending on where you live, how far you are from the nearest tower, or even what the weather’s doing. Fibre is different. It’s wired directly into your home, so your speed doesn’t suddenly drop when your neighbour starts a video call or when a storm rolls in. For smart homes with loads of devices connected at once, consistency matters - and fibre delivers. ###### **2. Reliability Is Key for Always-On Devices** Smart homes rely on constant connectivity. Whether it’s your security system sending updates or your smart fridge doing an overnight software update, you want a connection you can trust. With fibre, your home stays online 24/7 with minimal interruptions. 5G, being wireless, is more prone to signal drops - not ideal when your doorbell camera, geyser or alarm system depends on staying connected. ###### **MetroFibre Tip:** If reliability is non-negotiable, fibre is your safest bet. No signal hopping, no downtime. ###### **3. Fibre Handles More Devices, Effortlessly** Smart homes aren’t just about one or two connected gadgets - they’re entire ecosystems of devices talking to each other. That’s a lot of data flowing around at once. Fibre internet is designed to handle high-bandwidth environments with ease. Whether it’s streaming music in the kitchen while your kids are gaming in the lounge and the vacuum is mapping the living room - fibre won’t break a sweat. ###### **4. Unlimited Data, No Stress** Many 5G packages still come with data limits or high top-up costs once you hit your cap. In a smart home setup, where everything from your lights to your TV is online, you don’t want to be counting gigabytes . Fibre packages from MetroFibre are uncapped and unlimited – so there is no need to stress about how much data your home is “using”, providing unbeatable value. ###### **5. Future-Proofing Your Home** As your smart home gets smarter - think voice assistants, home gyms with live classes, or AI-powered energy systems - your internet needs will grow. Fibre is built to handle this evolution, with speeds and capacity that won’t need upgrading any time soon. ### **Smart Home? Go Smart with Fibre** ###### While 5G has its perks for mobile use, fibre remains the best option for smart homes that need stable, reliable, always-on connectivity. With our uncapped packages and reliable speeds, your smart home will run exactly the way it should - seamlessly. ##### Share this post ##### Why Choose Fibre? ### Stay in touch with us We hate spam, just as much as you do.
