A quick-and-dirty guide to keeping your digital life safe

Let’s be honest—most people don’t think about online security until something goes wrong. And even then, it’s usually after the damage is done. But staying protected doesn’t have to be complicated or boring. It’s more about being street-smart with your tech.

There are a few small wins that make a big difference.

1. Rename your router login details

The default username and password on your router are basically an open invitation. Change them. Even something like “bananafish_92” is better than “admin”.

2. Reboot your router every now and then

We take care of firmware updates behind the scenes, but your router needs a little love. A restart helps apply updates and keeps things running smoothly.

3. Use real passwords on your devices

“Password123” is not a password. It’s a dare. Use different ones across your devices - and yes, write them down if you must (just not on a sticky note next to your screen).

4. Turn on 2FA where you can

Two-factor authentication might feel like overkill until you’re hacked. Then it feels like a lifesaver. Enable it on important accounts.

Online security shouldn’t make your head hurt. These small steps will keep your connection - and your data - safer.
